چکیده

The possible existence of self-organized criticality in Barkhausen noise is investigated theoretically through a single interface model, and experimentally from measurements in amorphous magnetostrictive ribbon Metglas 2605TCA under stress. Contrary to previous interpretations in the literature, both simulation and experiment indicate that the presence of a cutoff in the avalanche size distribution may be attributed to finite-size effects. @S1063-651X~99!00904-6#

Barkhausen avalanches in anisotropic ferromagnets with 180° domain wall

We show that Barkhausen noise in two-dimensional disordered ferromagnets with extended domain walls is characterized by the avalanche size exponent ts51.54 at low disorder. With increasing disorder the characteristic domain size is reduced relative to the system size due to nucleation of new domains and a dynamic phase transition occurs to the scaling behavior with ts51.30. The exponents decrea...

Shape of a Barkhausen Pulse

The average shape of the pulse in Barkhausen noise has been recently proposed as a tool to compare models and experiments. We compute theoretically the pulse shape of Barkhausen noise in a model describing the motion of a domain wall in an effective Brownian potential. In this framework, the pulse shape is related to the properties of the excursion of a random process in a c log(x)− kx potentia...

Optical and electrical Barkhausen noise induced by recording ferroelectric domain holograms

Ferroelectric domain gratings with periods of the order of an optical wavelength are induced in strontium barium niobate by photorefractive space-charge fields. We measure the Barkhausen noise in current and diffraction efficiency while optically recording domain gratings and show that the two are strongly correlated in time. Significant random depolarization occurs under high-intensity illumin...

Multiple magnetization paths in Barkhausen noise.

Barkhausen noise from small samples of an Fe-based Metglas showed partial reproducibility. Small changes in the swept field completely scrambled the pattern of Barkhausen jumps. For some sweep parameters, the Barkhausen pulses switched randomly between two patterns on successive sweeps. These results require that the largest of the Barkhausen peaks come from a many-degree-of-freedom model not s...
